What do we believe?

Dominion Church is a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) and we adhere to the Westminster Confession of Faith as a basis for our Reformed faith.

Our Distinctives

Our theological beliefs align with the teachings of the Protestant Reformers in the 16th century. These can be summarized in five Latin phrases which were coined at the time.

  • Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”): The Bible alone is our highest authority.
  • Sola Fide (“faith alone”): We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.
  • Sola Gratia (“grace alone”): We are saved by the grace of God alone.
  • Solus Christus (“Christ alone”): Jesus Christ alone is our Lord, Savior, and King.
  • Soli Deo Gloria (“to the glory of God alone”): We live for the glory of God alone.

We believe that the Bible is one unifying story of God’s word, marked by a series of covenants made by God to man. Jesus, as the Son of God and the sacrifice given for our sin, is our ultimate covenant maker and keeper.

The doctrines of grace are defined in the Reformed tradition using the acronym TULIP: “T” – Total Depravity, “U” – Unconditional Election, “L” – Limited Atonement, “I” – Irresistible Grace, “P” – Perseverance and Preservation of the Saints.

The term presbyterian refers to a system of church government overseen by member-elected elders. We are part of the South Florida Presbytery, the local representation of our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA.)

Our Priorities

When we recognize that we are completely dependent on the grace of God, we respond both in thankfulness to God for his kindness, and in proclaiming the good news of the gospel to others. As we acknowledge our own brokenness, we can honestly welcome all broken people to journey together with us.

We believe that growth happens best when we are growing together. We want to be a place where every person at Dominion feels known and connected in community. Our ministries are all focused on creating opportunities in which community will grow and flourish.

We provide strong, Biblical teaching for every age, beginning with our smallest children, and support parents as they raise their children to know and love Christ. Because we recognize that many of our members have been hurt or abandoned by their earthly families, we long for our church to be a strong spiritual family, loving each member with the love of Christ.
